Do eyelashes grow back is a common question asked by many and the answer is certainly, your eyelashes will usually grow back and the growth rate is usually the same as the hair on your head. However, it doesn’t necessarily follow that if you have full, thick hair on your head that your eyelashes will be full and thick as well.
There are several factors that affect eyelash growth, trauma (mental or physical), age and your normal care routine to name but three.
Should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, the shock of that accident even if it does not involve your eyes, can stop the growth for a while. Similarly, if you are very stressed or depressed this can happen as well. Of course you would be more concerned if you had an accident that directly affected your eyelashes, such as getting them singed at a barbeque! These are the times when you may ask yourself, “do eyelashes grow back”. The answer is still yes, and they should grow back normally even if this takes longer than normal you should still see growth within 4 to 8 weeks. When the regrowth begins, this will be normally be at the same rate as the growth of the hair on your head.
When you are young, as with many things, your body is much better at regenerating itself. With the aging process, it is not only the skin that is affected, it will also influence the regeneration process of eyelashes and you will find them thinning out considerable. You could try an eyelash grower serum which will certainly help, as some have been scientifically tested (some of these tests may not pass what some people think of as science, but they have certainly shown something happening). The serums are applied to base of the eyelashes with a mascara wand. This is done every night after removing makeup for a couple of weeks, so they are very simple to use. You will have to re-do this every couple of months but the effects are worth it. You could also try the serums once your lashes have started to re-grow following trauma.
If you do not care for your eyes properly you will of course end up damaging your lashes. Too many people go for a quick wipe, dragging and pulling out their eyelashes as they do so. Be gentle with your eyes and think about what you are doing. Unless unavoidable, NEVER sleep in your make-up! Not only is sleeping in your makeup particularly unattractive in the morning, your eyes will suffer as well.
So to answer your question again, “do eyelashes grow back?” They certainly do for the majority of people but if you are worried contact your doctor. Otherwise, sorry, but you will just need to be patient!
